The Erving Elementary School Library Program is an essential part of shaping our students into lifelong learners. It enhances students’ ability to learn; assists them in becoming independent thinkers and problem solvers; and, fosters a love of reading.
The Erving Elementary School Library functions as the vibrant center of the school. It is always in use while school is in session. It is a place to which teachers and staff turn for ideas and materials. Resources are current, attractive, and entertaining for children, and the collection continually evolves to be in accordance with the most recent state standards for elementary education. Both the library and the librarian present a cheerful, welcoming, and effective ambience so that staff and students alike will enjoy using the library and feel a sense of ownership with regard to it.
The primary functions of the Erving Elementary School Library Program are to encourage students to acquire a lifelong love of reading for pleasure and information and to become effective users and producers of information.
