MCBA 2007 was awesome!
We slid into home for girls' baseball,
Traveled to Mexico in a baby beluga for Noche de Los Rabanos
Solved the mysteries of the City of Ember,
Vanquished dragons with St. George,
Built towers of glory at 19 Schuyler Place,
Bravely (and swiftly) washed Al Capone's laundry
Tested our shopping savvy (if only we had a million dollars . . .)
Went totally loopy with Mrs. Roopy,
and heard photographs talking with Charlie Bone.
We also collected 210 cans and boxes of food
for the Western Massachusetts Food Bank!!
THANK YOU to all of our fabulous readers and volunteers --
We shred, man!
See you all next year at
Books in Action!
The Massachusetts Children's Book Award (MCBA) promotes reading for pleasure to 4th to 6th graders. Children who participate agree to read at least 5 books from the list of nominees.
The children have all fall - from September through February - to read as many MCBA titles as they like. At the end of February, the students vote for their favorite title. It's a great way for kids to tell other kids what they like to read!
In Union 28, we celebrate the kids who read 5 + MCBA nominees with a BIG PARTY!
