On Wednesday, 23 January, during our All-School Meeting, we had a visitor from the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society. Lori Swanson is Education and Outreach Coordinator at the shelter. Her first job at the shelter was helping to clean out the dog and cat cages. Now, she runs a variety of programs in which she teaches kids all about pets. We were very lucky -- Ms. Swanson brought 3 dogs with her! They walked around the gym so that children could say 'hello' to them.
The Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society works to strengthen the bond between animals and people, enhancing the quality of their lives through compassionate sheltering, responsible adoptions, education, and community outreach. Ms. Swanson gave our school copies of the shelter's recent newsletter to send home to families. Look for it in your child's book bag!
